Man Sustains Life Threatening Injuries after assault at Occupy Eugene encampment

Eugene [Oregon] Police [say] it was a very active night. Officers were called out on reports of four or five fights in a five hour period.

Eugene Police swarmed the occupy encampment overnight after a police officer on patrol found a man, unresponsive.

KEZI 9 News has confirmed officers found the victim, a white male, 54, at the Washington Jefferson Park.

Police say he sustained life threatening injuries. It's unclear at this point if a weapon was involved.

"There has been some sort of altercation that's resulted in a man being taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. A patrol officer found him and he wasn't breathing, so he administered CPR and they got the medics here," said Melinda McLaughlin, EPD Spokeswoman.

Medics took the victim to Sacred Heart Medical Center, University District. There is no word on his condition at this hour.
